Galle is a historic city on the coast of Sri Lanka. It's best known for Galle Fort - the old city founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. Streets without cars are surrounded by stone sea walls and you'll find architecture influenced by many different cultures. You'll also want to check out the 18th-century Dutch Reformed Church and the renowned Galle Lighthouse on the southeast end. There's so much to do and see in this historic coastal city.
